our giving back philosophy

Taking that giant leap of faith and embarking on your first business venture is both thrilling and terrifying at the same time. One of the first steps for us was to clearly identify our goals: Why were we doing this? Clearly, establishing a strong growing business was very high on the list. Equally important, however, was another goal - making sure that our business was a viable channel for giving back to our community.

Both my husband and I grew up in countries outside the United States and for the last few years have been lucky enough to call this country our home. We consider ourselves extremely fortunate to have had the opportunities we have had throughout our lives in all the places where we have lived.

As I took the decision to embark on this journey, we wanted to make sure Desi Shack was a means to give back to our community. We wanted Desi Shack to be our way of helping those around us who have not been as fortunate as we have been. And, we wanted you, our customers, to be part of this journey with us.

Here is what we decided:

For every roll, rice plate or salad ordered, we will donate 5 cents straight to charity.

The numbers add up!

So next time you take a bite into that juicy aloo roll or munch on your chicken salad bowl, know that you, together with us, are playing a part in helping those around us who need our help the most.
